Founded 1991 · Elrose, Saskatchewan
Our Story
The Hartmans have farmed near Elrose, Saskatchewan for four generations. In the early 90s, Kim wanted to seed with less disturbance and hold more moisture. The equipment available didn't do that well. So he started figuring it out himself.
That was 1991. K-Hart has been building equipment for low-disturbance seeding and heavy residue conditions ever since.

Milestones
K-Hart Through the Years
From a farm near Elrose to fields across North America.
Kim Hartman develops a seeder for soil and moisture conservation near Elrose, SK. Two prototype drills built using a Tormaster frame from Altona, Manitoba.
First production drills built on a custom Dutch Industries frame from Regina. Available in 30, 36, and 40-foot sizes with the 2610 Series Opener.
Kim connects with Darryl Hine from Direct Seeding Australia. The first drill ships to Australia in 1994, beginning a lasting distribution partnership.
K-Hart releases opener conversion units for tillage cultivators, replacing shanks with the 2612 Disc Opener. The 60-foot 5-Plex Gen 1 drill is introduced.
The 5-Plex 48-foot Gen 1 releases in 2002, followed by the 36 Series Opener in 2003.
First fully proprietary frame. Available in 42, 56, 66, and 76-foot sizes, introducing mid-row banding, heavier construction, larger tires, and the 46 Series Opener.
Kim meets Tony Gent and recognizes the potential of his UK-developed undercutting opener for Western Canadian conditions. Over 300 units sold across Canada, the US, and Australia.
Kim hires Arvinder Jabal and Russ Lyons as engineering consultants to develop a new platform built around modern seeding demands.
Purpose-built around the GENT opener from the ground up. Concept to pilot production in under a year. Production moves to Winnipeg to align manufacturing, engineering, and operations.
Each model year reflects direct operator feedback. Engineers log thousands of miles during seeding, bringing findings directly back to the drawing board.
How We Work
Still Close to the Ground.
K-Hart engineers are in the field every seeding season — not reviewing reports, but riding the machines alongside operators. What they see drives the changes built into the following model year. Every season surfaces something new: a soil type, a residue condition, an edge case the engineering brief didn't cover.
K-Hart works directly with operators across a range of conditions. That relationship is how the machine keeps getting better — and why K-Hart isn't done until it fits.
If you're running a Spyder, what you tell your dealer goes somewhere.

The People Behind K-Hart
Built by a Team. Run for the Long Term.
K-Hart began with a farmer looking for a better answer in his own fields. More than three decades later, the company continues to grow because a team of people believe in the same idea: building equipment that solves real problems for farmers.
Today, K-Hart's leadership team brings together experience from across agriculture, manufacturing, engineering, finance, sales, and operations. Everyone is working toward the same goal: building a stronger company, supporting dealers and customers, and showing up for farmers season after season.

The Spyder isn't the right machine for every system. If residue, moisture, and long-term ownership cost matter on your acres, it's worth a closer look.
